CSC's telecommunications solutions give
national emergency personnel telephone access
across the country under the most adverse
conditions using such media as radio
frequencies, satellites, and land lines. CSC's solutions also allow
New York Stock Exchange brokers to send
information to various databases from wireless
handheld computers, and doctors in the United
States to guide medical technicians on Bosnia's
battlefields by video teleconference.
CSC is a major provider of solutions
that integrate voice, data, and video into the
same system. Our technological expertise in
telephone systems, computer systems, and
networks allows us to develop complete,
integrated systems that address every need of
your business.
But CSC provides more than just the
telephones, workstations, software, and other
sophisticated technology that make up an
integrated telecommunications system. We provide
solutions that help your business perform better
by meeting the unique needs of your
organization. Our
professional services engineers analyze your
needs, then we design an
integrated business system that meets those
needs.

What We Offer ||
Success Stories

Infrastructure Planning
CSC can help you develop or update your
Information Resource Management (IRM) plan. This
plan - which should be updated annually -
includes your business objectives; a description
of your functional, information, and technical
architectures; and a list of your fiscal,
strategic, and operational requirements.
Infrastructure Design and Development
CSC has been designing and developing
infrastructure solutions for many years. We
understand all aspects of communications and
computer system design using
commercial-off-the-shelf,
government-off-the-shelf, and developed
components. We will design your infrastructure
to be user-friendly, reliable, cost-effective,
and easy to maintain. Once you approve our
designs, we use state-of-the-art tools to build
your systems as quickly and accurately as
possible.
Infrastructure Integration
Integration is the key to creating reliable
systems. CSC maintains several research
facilities where we integrate and test our
systems, analyze their performance, fine-tune
configuration parameters, and identify potential
enhancements. These facilities allow us to
develop fully integrated systems that meet your
needs without interrupting your current
operations. When we are satisfied that we have
built the best system, we transfer it to your
location and perform acceptance tests to confirm
that it works the way you want it to.
Infrastructure Maintenance
CSC performs all types of infrastructure
maintenance, at our site or yours, including:
- Managing baseline configurations;
- Upgrading hardware and software;
- Backing up, archiving, and restoring
information;
- Administering databases;
- Tuning networks and servers to peak
performance;
- Providing billing services;
- Analyzing real-time data to detect fraud
or abuse; and
- Training users.
Infrastructure Enhancement
Technology insertion is essential to keeping up
with advances that can help you improve your
business. We can tell you when and how to add
new technology to your infrastructure. We can
tell you which advances will help your business
- and which won't. We can help you do it without
interrupting your business. And we can
train your employees in the new technology.

During
a hurricane, earthquake, or other natural
disaster or emergency, lives depend on the
ability of national security/emergency
preparedness (NS/EP) organizations to exchange
critical information by phone, fax, modem, and
other media. To ensure the availability and
reliability of NS/EP communications, the Office
of the Manager of the National Communication
System (OMNCS) developed the
Government Emergency Telecommunications Service,
which CSC implemented and coordinates.
Rather than build an expensive system
exclusively for emergency use, we applied our
integration expertise to develop a more
cost-effective alternative. First, we
recommended changes to the commercial,
nationwide public switched network (PSN). Then,
we used our industry leadership to assemble a
team - including Bellcore and several switch
manufacturers and inter-exchange and local
exchange carriers - to implement the service.
For the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff to do the
best possible job of advising the President in
times of crisis, it must have easy, secure, and
reliable access to information. CSC is
currently building that system. For the
Joint Staff Automation for the Nineties
contract, we started by integrating an office
applications suite, complete with workflow
automation tools, action processing and
tracking, and electronic filing functionality.
We then tied the suite to an enterprise-wide
network that facilitates the transfer and access
of crucial information. Now we are maintaining a
first-class training program that is teaching
hundreds of personnel how to use and administer
these integrated tools. |
