The Internet, which began as an
exotic means of communication
for academics and scientists, is
quickly emerging as the global
marketplace for the twenty-first
century. Although electronic
mail remains the most popular
activity on the Internet, the
World Wide Web increasingly is
becoming an essential element of
doing business. "There's no
hotter issue in corporate
America than the Internet: how
to get on it, how to use it, and
ultimately how to profit from
it," according to PC Magazine.
The Web provides businesses
with many invaluable services.
It gives organizations quick and
easy access to vast amounts of
information. It is a universal
advertising medium. And it is a
marketplace that allows
customers and vendors to
exchange goods and services
around the world. At the same
time, corporate intranets are
giving organizations internally
some of the same advantages that
the Intranet provides between
organizations. Intranets give a
corporation's employees secure
global access to important
information and a convenient
means for instantaneous
collaboration no matter where
they happen to be.
CSC
has designed, implemented, and
hosted award-winning Web sites
for organizations such as the
United States Joint Chiefs of
Staff, the United States Air
Force and the National
Institutes of Health.

What We Offer
|| Success
Stories

We begin by consulting with
you to understand your business
needs and how they can be best
served. We work with you to
develop a plan that most
effectively meets the needs of
your organization. Our writers
and graphic designers help you
develop the look and feel you
want. We provide hardware and
software solutions such as
back-ends, including CGIs and
database interfaces, online
catalogs, and
electronic commerce.
Architectural Design
CSC's technical experts
can ensure that your Internet
and intranet sites are
architecturally sound and
interact successfully with your
databases, mail servers, and
other elements of your IT and
telecommunications
infrastructure. We provide
requirements analysis, data
mapping and modeling,
user-friendly graphical
interfaces, back-end database
design, forms layout, and
full-service consulting. We can
design turnkey solutions or help
enhance existing sites.
Implementation
CSC can build the site
for you, then maintain it,
monitor its effectiveness, and
provide other support services.
Advanced Business
Solutions
CSC can help you expand
your Internet and intranet
capabilities as your business
requirements grow. We can
incorporate relational database
development and implementation
for the capture and storage of
user data. We can provide secure
electronic commerce capability
over the Internet.
And we offer mobile training
solutions, which allow you to
educate your employees or
customers from remote locations.
We can also house entire sites
through CSC
Internetworking.
Security
CSC offers
Internet and intranet security,
providing such technologies as
digital signatures and other
forms of user authentication,
encryption, firewalls, and proxy
servers. Security is also
essential to the continued rapid
growth of
electronic commerce.
Training
CSC provides online
training tools to help you
better understand and use your
finished Web-based products.
Mobility
To satisfy the demands of
today's increasingly mobile
workforce, CSC creates
solutions that expand the scope
of Internet technologies across
LANs and WANs,
wireless communications, and
private networks. Such solutions
allow you to stay connected to
your business whenever you want,
wherever you are.

CSC's Direct User
Terminal Access Service (DUATS)
Web site offers commercial and
private pilots a range of
products and services to help
them work better.
DUATS is a Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) contract
that allows pilots to receive
FAA weather briefings, to plan
their flights, and to file
flight plans with the FAA
online. The web site mimics the
familiar functionality of
Windows, and all data sent to
the FAA is encrypted for
privacy. The site also maintains
a profile database that allows
users to store information for
future use. The application uses
a Java CGI to connect to the
FAA's legacy database and is
served by a Secure Socket Layer
(SSL) Netscape Enterprise
Server.
CSC has provided Internet
solutions to several important
government agencies. CSC designed and
implemented the Department of
Defense's primary public
information site,
Defense Link, which links to
all the branches of the military
and provides the latest news and
information on U.S. military
activities. CSC also
designed and implemented the
U.S. Air Force's official Web
site. We provided the site
with an integrated suite of
Internet solutions, including a
contextual search engine,
graphic images, custom software
development to meet the unique
enterprise requirements of the
Air Force, and a secure
relational database interface
that captures requests for
information from the public
accurately and reliably. The
site recently received the Gold
Quill Award from the
International Association of
Business Communicators (IABC).
CSC also designed a
state-of-the-art intranet site
that allows its employees to
work together, in a secure
environment, from locations
around the world. Our intranet
features a wide array of useful
services, including databases
and files that we can draw on
when planning a new project;
special work areas so that team
members on a project can share
and work on documents from
disparate locations;
descriptions of how to find and
use various corporate resources,
such as the print shop; answers
to frequently asked questions
for new employees; and general
employee information such as the
daily menu for the cafeteria and
exercise schedules at the health
club. |
