CSC, a leader in managing large,
complex systems for more than four
decades, can help you whether you are
installing a new network or maintaining
an existing one. If you are installing a
new network, we can help ensure that
your network and its management tools
are tailored to your needs. If you have
existing networks, we can optimize them
for you and keep them running smoothly
using an integrated "manager of
managers."
We can also help you redesign
networks to perform at their best.
Whether you have proprietary voice
networks, inter-connected private branch
exchanges, local area networks (LANs),
wide area networks (WANs), or a
combination of these, we can design a
reliable, flexible, secure, and
self-sustaining management system for
you.
We are constantly improving our
network management capabilities.
Currently, we are developing two
enterprise-wide network management
systems. Our Enterprise Management
System is one of the first systems to
integrate a variety of network
management products so that they can be
managed by one "manager of managers."
The Network Management Operations Center
(NMOC) Internal Development (ID)
provides network management services for
a variety of government and commercial
contracts.
With our extensive investment in
state-of-the-art facilities and tools,
and with our experience, we have the
means to serve your most complex network
management needs.

What We Offer ||
Success Stories

Management Design
CSC designs complete, customized
network management systems using
commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
products. Our approach allows us to
offer low-risk and cost-effective
plug-and-play solutions. Whether you are
managing legacy systems or new
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and
Synchronous Optical Network (SONET)
equipment, we can provide a
standards-based, enterprise-wide system
that meets your needs. Our solutions are
designed so that COTS network management
products can be added, replaced, or
removed easily, when you need them.
Network Designs
CSC provides architecture
services to help you build or expand
your network, so that your
infrastructure continues to support your
business strategy and processes. Our
services include network planning,
detailed designs, security and
performance audits, configuration
baselines, and tuning of existing
networks. We assess the physical and
logical connections of your desktop
systems to the LANs. We evaluate your
network backbone and determine whether
your LANs are properly connected to WANs. We increase access to critical
data and computing facilities, and we
ensure that your access to the Internet,
intranets, and extranets is safe. We
evaluate your system security plan and
mechanisms to determine whether your
network is sufficiently robust for your
needs, and whether your infrastructure,
traffic, network nodes, and data are
adequately protected.
Network Management Services
CSC also can manage your
organization's networks. We can provide
service engineering and implementation
plans; fault management, performance
management, configuration management,
account management, and security
management for voice or data networks;
billing collection and processing;
database updates and management; and
other management services.

CSC's Enterprise Management
System Internal Development - sponsored
by the Defense Information Systems
Agency (DISA) for its
Defense Switched Network (DSN) - is
one of the first systems to integrate a
variety of network management products
so that they work together. Organized
hierarchically and managed by one
"manager of managers," the system allows
you to manage the most widespread
networks from one place. CSC has
already applied the system to several
other programs. For example, CSC
engineers used the system to help
migrate DISA's telephony management
system from the DSN Integrated
Management Support System (DIMSS) to the
Advanced DSN Integrated Management
Support System (ADIMSS). Using the HP
OpenView platform, the Gensys G2 expert
system, and Application Builder
products, the proof-of-concept work
completed under the Enterprise
Management System ID project allowed
DISA to move from a specially developed
network management system to a
COTS-based system with very low risk and
lower costs.
CSC's Network Management
Operations Center (NMOC) regularly
implements Internal Development (ID)
projects to update its network
management platform, integrating legacy
and newer technologies through
standards-based COTS products. NMOC ID
is unique for its ability to collect
feedback from customers on several
systems, analyze the data, and develop
new procedures. These have allowed us to
provide better quality and more
cost-effective service for such projects
as
Direct User Access Terminal System (DUATS),
Social Security Administration in Puerto
Rico (SSA-PR),
Department of State Telephone Equipment
Contract (DOSTEC), and
National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration Weather Wire Service (NWWS). |
