Infrastructure Refreshment
Capital management guides asset replacement

Configuration Management
CSC helps you inventory your IT
infrastructure in order to facilitate upgrades to your
hardware and software. Configuration management (CM) can
track equipment by serial number or other identification
number. It also tracks and controls approved software
versions and ensures that no upgrade is released before
it is thoroughly tested. Finally, CM manages documents
which describe your system and guide users, ensuring
accuracy and controlling changes which may be needed as
the system evolves.
Seat Management
Seat management enables an enterprise to define
types of user configurations, ranging from basic user to
scientific/technical user; each seat or user type is
"packaged" with a configuration and application toolset
which will support that user type. Seat management

Desktop Services
Desktop services provided by experienced technical
professionals help end users learn and use IT resources
effectively. Training can be accomplished at a user's
desktop via computer aided instruction or from technical
experts who can show your users how to effectively use
available resources. We can add internet, extranet and
intranet services, perform preventive maintenance
services, or install software upgrades - at your user's
convenience.
Staging
We set up new IT environments and prepare them fully
for implementation. Before upgrading your computer
center, CSC will test to ensure that the
transition is as smooth as possible. We've done this for
years, for programs implementing new desktop systems,
and for programs for whom we've installed nationwide
mainframe processors. At our northern Virginia facility,
we've configured systems and tested them prior to
shipment to our customers - to facilitate installation
and operation upon delivery to your site.

In 1994, CSC installed the
Joint Staff Automation for the Nineties (JSAN)
network, comprised of 1,500 workstations and other
equipment joined by a FDDI backbone. This backbone has
since accommodated projected data communications
capabilities. Since completing the installation, we have
continued to solve integration issues as new hardware
and software are added to the system. We continue to
provide first-class user support and a highly rated
training program that has taught hundreds of personnel
how to make the best use of the new tools. |
