Whether you have implemented one
of the many hardware, software
or telecommunications solutions
CSC offers - or need help
planning how training should be
implemented on another project -
we can provide training for your
management and staff.
Since CSC’s knowledge
of both custom-built and
commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)
IT hardware and software
applications is broad and deep,
we are prepared to bring you up
to speed and keep you there on
such applications in a timely
and cost-effective way. In
addition, we'll provide
documentation for post-training
user reference - and we can
develop system-level
documentation to describe how
your enterprise operates in its
information-rich environment.
At CSC, we believe
information is only useful when
it becomes meaningful. Whether
you are using Microsoft, Lotus,
Corel, Netscape, Oracle, Novell,
or a CSC-designed custom
application, our training
programs will ensure that your
users understand how to use the
powerful technology available at
their fingertips. We'll help you
ensure that your staff is as
productive as it can be - by
empowering your users with the
knowledge they need.

Classroom Training
Many of us learn best in a
traditional classroom
environment. Whether we use a
vendor-provided COTS training
package or develop customized
training for your users, we will
help your users to become more
productive with the tools you
provide for them. We can provide
classroom training on your site
or at a convenient nearby
location. We'll develop training
plans to define how training
will be implemented as you roll
out your system enhancements,
and we'll supplement training
with simple effective training
materials.
Deskside Training
Training customized to an
individual user's needs can be
the way to help a busy executive
come up to speed with the latest
desktop applications. Even if
you've taken a more traditional
training class, when you return
to your office and try to use
unfamiliar tools to do your job,
you may not remember what you've
just learned. We understand that
it's tough enough to keep up
with the daily workload, without
adding the challenge of learning
a new tool - so we often
supplement traditional classroom
training with training in your
office.
Computer-Based Training
When traditional training
approach must be supplemented
for users in field locations or
users unable to attend training
sessions, we can provide
training which is convenient for
them too. Whether you wish to
provide an overview of your
enterprise system, or detailed
training on an application,
computer-based training may be
the solution for you. We'll use
appropriate training development
tools, such as the Quest
authoring system or interactive
CDs which display screens and
equipment new to your users.
Distance Learning via the
Internet
Your users employ
information access tools ranging
from wireless phones and laptops
to the World Wide Web. Every day
we become more reliant on the
Web - to find and use
information - and it is the
logical next step in providing
training to users located
worldwide. Many of the same
tools we use to develop
computer-based training are used
now to provide training via the
Internet. This is another way
that CSC connects you to
the information that counts.

In 1994, CSC installed
the
Joint Staff Automation for the
Nineties (JSAN) network. CSC’s Training Staff "hit
the ground running" with the
Joint Staff. Within two weeks of
arriving, the CSC
instructors conducted their
first classes before the
installation began. The first
course developed included
Windows NT, MS Mail, Schedule+
and the basics of MS Office
applications. That course became
the cornerstone for other
training. Since the course was
modular, CSC conducted
customized training for Joint
Staff directorates as needed. In
the end, 1,500 users
transitioned to the JSAN network
and the CSC Training
Staff received letters of
appreciation from the
Vice-Director of the Joint
Staff.
In June 1995, CSC
implemented the Joint Staff
Training Program (JSTP). JSTP is
the office automation course for
new users. Since the computer is
the "weapon" that Joint Staff
action officers use, computer
training is very important. The
course is geared to "survival"
skills that everyone must know.
JSTP is a series of half-day
modular courses, so that new
users can work in their offices
and attend training in the same
day. Students receive a binder
of training materials customized
by CSC, including
step-by-step guides and quick
reference guides. The great
thing about the JSTP is that the
Student critiques are actually
used to improve the course. In
the 1997 version, students
complete a practical exercise on
the last day of training. The
students continue to rave about
the quality and patience of the
instructors.
We helped the FAA ensure
vital communications during
emergency situations. During
crisis times, a complex
computerized conference calling
system connected the local area
and the Washington FAA
Headquarters, enabling up to
1,000 people to communicate.
CSC provided three types
of training on the FAA's Voice
Telecommunications System (VTS).
We provided Conference Bridge
training for the FAA's emergency
operations centers. We also
trained FAA personnel on
telephone usage at 32 nationwide
locations, and taught system
administrators to maintain the
system and to program telephone
features from a PC. |
