The American
Management Association describes a business plan as "a set of management decisions about what a firm will be
doing to be successful". A plan details strategies for
current and future business operations, as well as
strategies to help you compete in your markets. It
answers questions internal to your organization, while
providing insight into your organization for those
outside your organization. It may help you obtain
funding or support from external sources. It defines
internal structures, processes, and relationships, and
includes plans for improving those processes to help you
stay ahead of the competition or anticipate regulatory
changes. To be a useful tool, your plan must reflect
your organization - where it is now, where it is
planning to go, what specific challenges must be
addressed, and how you will know you are successful.
"How do I improve my infrastructure? "How do I
increase sales?" "How do I improve my image with the
public?" No one knows better than you how your business
should operate, but we can help you pull all the pieces
together. CSC business planning experts have the
creativity and business acumen to help you make sound
decisions. CSC's professionals can help you
identify actions and milestones to achieve your goals;
they can help you develop a timeline and a budget, and
they may suggest ways to obtain resources and mitigate
your risks. Once your business plan is complete, you
should routinely evaluate your progress against your
plan. CSC can help you evaluate actual vs.
planned results and determine course corrections in your
plan and your business.

What We Offer ||
Success Stories

Process Evaluation
CSC can help you define current functions or
processes, so that you can identify the strengths and
weaknesses of those functions or processes. We can
identify strategies for building on strengths and
correcting weaknesses.
Organizational Overview/Interrelationships
Your plan defines your organizational structure and
business goals; it also contains an overview for your
entire organization. For complex organizations with
divisions, components or programs, the plan identifies
responsibilities and helps to coordinate activities
between subsidiary organizations.
Critical Success Factors
These may effect achievement of your organization's
goals. They may be geographic, economic, environmental,
social, or information needs. CSC can help you
understand how these factors can affect your business.
Performance Measurement
CSC can help you determine how to measure your
success. We'll help you identify standards for measuring
actual performance - whether they are quantitative,
event-specific, or schedule-driven.
Promotion
Communicating planned actions within your
organization will ensure that your staff understands the
mission of your organization. You may want to publish
your plan to customers or stakeholders outside of your
organization. CSC can help you do this too as
well as promote it on the Internet and through
electronic means.

Several
Department of Defense (DoD) medical organizations
have been working hard to make telemedicine a reality.
CSC has significantly impacted these efforts by
helping them create and execute business plans in both
peacetime and wartime. We work side-by-side with DoD
doctors, administrators, and technical support staff on
Primetime III (BosniaNet), Navy Theater Medical
Information Program (TMIP), TRICARE Region 9, and
several other programs.
CSC is also developing business plans for
several civilian organizations. We are the
Department of State's chief planner for
communications infrastructure at United States embassies
around the world. Other CSC experts are helping
the
Federal Aviation Administration plan, develop, and
implement the roll-out of software for
private-pilot flight planning and logging. Still
others are working with the Office of the Manager,
National Communications System, to plan and
coordinate emergency preparedness/disaster recovery in
the Public Switched Network. |
