IT Evaluation Lab
The IT Evaluation
Lab is currently demonstrating the tools which IT
provides for internal CSC use. The Lab is divided
into three functional areas, Business Systems
Integration, Information Infrastructure Solutions and IT
Operations and Support, in which the demonstrations take
place.
Business Systems Integration tools include:
- The standard desktop software configuration,
including MS Office 97, MS Exchange mail with Outlook,
and virus protection.
- The latest Micron Pentium 300 desktop computer
- Several palm top computers for comparison
- Telecommuting: several dial-in solutions, including comparative
analyses of ISDN and 56K flex modems
Information Infrastructure Solutions tools
include:
- Network services: Internet/Intranet
- Computer Telephony Integration (CTI): email, fax mail, voice mail, Internet mail, CyberID
- Software evaluations: IIS, white boarding, work flow, faxing
- Hardware evaluations: desktop, lap top, palm top
IT Operations and Support tools include:
- Labor savings: CBT, remote and zero administration, electronic
surveys
- Asset management: Tangram, SMS
- Network management: Spectrum, HP Openview
- Security management: secure IP tunneling, theft recovery, prevention,
detection, virus control
