Why Choose CSC?
ISO 9001 Registered
ISO 9001 Registered
ISO 9000 is a set of
quality management standards, recognized worldwide,
developed and controlled by the International Organization
for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The U.S.
is a member of ISO, represented by the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI). The documents that define the
ISO 9000 standard, adopted by more than 100 countries,
provide a quality management system philosophy and guidance,
as well as specifications to which the quality system must
adhere.
ISO 9001 is the most stringent of the ISO 9000 standards.
ISO 9001 requires that a company meet a set of requirements
aimed primarily at achieving quality and customer
satisfaction at all program stages from design through
servicing. CSC established a
quality policy requiring support and
"buy-in" from all staff levels. Our employees ensure that we
continue to meet our quality objective.

What does ISO registration mean
for CSC?
CSC uses proven management tools and processes which were
developed during 40 years of experience on contracts ranging
in size from very small studies to very large turn-key
system integration programs. By "proven" we mean validated
by CSC's ISO 9001 registration. To achieve
this, independent third party auditors evaluated all aspects
of our operations to verify that we do what we say we do -
consistently across programs.
The ISO registration is not a single event but a
long-term commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Although we attained ISO 9001 registration in 1995, we must
continue to prove to an independent external auditor at
least twice each year that our quality system is effective
and that our process improvement efforts are ongoing.
How did CSC achieve ISO 9001
registration?
We instituted a process improvement system, documented in
our Quality Management System (QMS), that empowers our
employees to identify problems and suggest changes to the
quality system. This system provides a means to monitor and
resolve problems adversely affecting quality. CSC
employees access this system via e-mail. Once a Process
Improvement Request (PIR) is entered into our PIR system, it
is referred to our QMS Review Board for action. This board,
comprised of business and functional area representatives,
researches, analyzes and monitors each PIR, instituting and
approving process improvement initiatives. Metrics and
status reports on our quality system are compiled and
presented by our Management Representative quarterly to our
senior staff.
How does ISO encourage continuous
process improvement?
To ensure we are doing business as our QMS procedures say we
do, we implemented an internal audit system. Several times a
year, programs and functional areas are subjected to a
rigorous review by a staff of personnel trained in auditing
techniques. These internal auditors review evidence that our
business operations comply with our QMS procedures, and
generate PIRs for identified nonconformities. Program
managers identify the root cause of the PIRs on their
programs and implement corrective or preventive actions;
planned preventive action ensures that the problem does not
reoccur. The QMS Review Board monitors the status of
audit-generated PIRs, to ensure that corrections are made in
a timely fashion. Follow-up audits are conducted to verify
that corrective actions are implemented and effective. Audit
statistics are compiled and presented to CSC's senior
staff.
What does ISO 9001 mean for our
customers?
As traditional military and government standards are
replaced by "best commercial practices" and more flexible,
responsive and cost-effective business practices, CSC
is prepared to be an industry leader in self-driven quality
systems. Our staff does have extensive experience with
government and military standards, and will follow these
guidelines where required by our customers. Our QMS, put in
place to prepare for ISO 9001 registration, will continue to
guide overall business operations and ensure that we achieve
customer satisfaction on all contracts.
Finally, we often team with recognized integration
technology experts. As technology changes more rapidly every
day, no one organization can be THE expert in existing and
emerging technologies. We must rely on our team members to
keep up with technology and bring it to our customers. Our
ISO 9001 procedures require that all teammates be tightly
integrated into an overall program plan, ensuring their
accountability in meeting our customers' technology goals.
